Day 9 – Henry Has Arrived!

What a day! We woke up nice and early to head to the hospital and be induced. I had no idea how it would go since I went into labor on my own with Ruth. I was so curious as to what this day would be like and how it would compare with Ruth's birthday. It was quite a bit different, but still wonderful as its own very special day. There was more pushing, but that was to be expected. I only pushed for six minutes with Ruth, so there wasn't a lot of opportunity to beat that. I pushed for about half an hour with Henry. I know that's not long compared to a lot of people's delivery experience, but it sure seemed like he was wanting to stay inside as long as possible. Everyone in the room was guessing on the birth weight. Seeing as though they estimated Henry to be around 8 lbs at 36.5 weeks during my last ultrasound, we just didn't know what to expect. The doctor noted that down this morning and seemed to do a little calculation of her own without mentioning what she thought. I can only assume she was thinking 'oh boy!' He weighed in this afternoon at 8 lbs 10 oz. I think this mama right here might have guessed closest... because mama knows best! Just kidding... 

Ruth came to see Henry first and did great. She wasn't freaked out by seeing me with an IV in bed like this. She absolutely loved holding Henry which was so sweet. Henry was a good bit fussier than Ruth in her first few hours of life. But they both make for some of the cutest newborns I've ever seen! 

We will see what tomorrow holds for us all.
