Write 31 Days 2017 Starts Now
So I found out about this writing challenge for the month of October a couple of days ago from a gifted friend and writer who is accepting the challenge. Write something every day for 31 days on pretty much any topic you choose. You probably cannot guess this from my blog currently (since the last post was from February...), but I rather enjoy writing. I don't do a great job of making time for it, but it's rewarding to me when I do. A challenge is really just what I needed. So I'm doing it! Challenge accepted!
This is a unique time to take on such a challenge for me. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and going to be having a baby any day now. One thing we can all guarantee in this month of October, my baby boy will be entering the world! With that, our entire life as a family is changing. My precious little girl has no idea what's coming and how life as an only child will be coming to an end with a new chapter as big sister beginning. Truth be told, Andrew and I don't really have any idea either. New life, and coincidentally the loss of life, are events you can talk about in theory all you'd like. Having the event take place is a whole different ball game.
Andrew asked me with complete sincerity the other day, "What are you going to do all day with a 2 year old and a newborn? What is the plan?" Ha! There is no plan! Even if I had a plan, I'm fairly certain most moms and dads out there could agree with me right now in the fact that the best laid plans in parenthood rarely work the way we think they should. I don't actually have any idea how things will go with an unbelievably energetic and adventurous 2 year old and a very needy, helpless newborn. I do know that people do it all the time, and have for generations so ultimately it will be fine...
For the Write 31 Days challenge, there are a variety of categories that bloggers will be taking a stab at. I went with the first category on the list, Family Life. I can't even say I read the whole list, I'm just lucky the first one seemed appropriate. What exactly will I write for the next 30 posts? Not sure. But here's a spoiler alert... a baby is coming and one post will surely be a baby announcement!
